The iWP wall printer offers customers a choice between two types of inks: UV ink and latex ink. While UV ink has gained popularity due to its versatility across various surfaces, especially in recent years, I’d like to recommend latex ink to customers looking for indoor printing solutions, particularly for interior wall printing.
What is latex ink?
Latex ink is formulated to be printable on uncoated media. It consists of pigment ink colorants, resin, and latex additives. This ink combines the adaptability of solvent ink to different printing media and image durability with the equipment and environmental benefits of water-based ink, representing a forward-looking inkjet printing solution.
Unlike natural latex from plants or synthetic latex used in rubber items, latex ink is completely safe for individuals with latex allergies.
When printed on a medium, latex ink utilizes the heating and melting of the latex component (heated to 50-60 ℃), followed by cooling to fix the pigment component onto the medium’s surface for printing and color fixation. Unlike UV ink, latex ink doesn’t require curing by UV lamp, resulting in faster printing speeds.
Advantages of latex ink
- Environmentally friendly, odorless, and non-corrosive, making it safer for both people and the environment.
- Minimal maintenance and ink wastage, with reduced risk of print head clogging, ensuring better printer performance.
- Versatility across various media types with a single ink set, enabling printing on uncoated or indoor and outdoor coated media.
- Vibrant colors, high saturation, and wide color gamut for superior printing quality.
- Offers resistance to tension, bending, high temperatures, scratches, freezing, abrasion, and water damage.
- Long-lasting durability, with printed images lasting up to three years outdoors and ten years indoors.
- Safe for use in various settings such as hospitals, hotels, schools, offices, and homes, making it ideal for indoor printing.
